The Annual Congregational Meeting will be held next Sunday, Jan. 31 after the church service. Now, the plan is for Diane Cooke to do the news next week, but I know she has a pretty bad cold and flu. Scugog Island United Church Rev. Bob Brawn was the guest speaker during our Sunday worship ser- vice. The Moms & Tots & Friends will meet on Wednesday, Jan. 27 at S.1.U.C. Choir practice will be held on Thursday, Jan. 28 at 7 p.m. The Grace U.C.W. will meet on Wednesday, Feb.> 3 at 1:30 p.m. at the home of Joan Morris. Alarm scares off thieves, say police Thieves were scared away from a storage building on Edgerton Rd. after an alarm sounded when they pried open a window, say police. Sometime around 3 a.m. on Jan. 22 police report that thieves jim- mied open a window on a storage barn but were scared away by an audi- ble alarm. When officers arrived, two sets of footprints were found in the snow were the thieves tried to jump over a snowbank but fell down, say police. The suspects were then seen driving west- bound towards Blackstock. Police offi- cers took off in pursuit, but lost them. Damage to the window 1s estimated to be around $20.
