'On the second Sunday of Lent George Hill and Christine MacPherson extinguished a purple can- dle as the congregation sang "Walk in the Light." During the children's time Rev. Carson talked to them about the World Day of Prayer and how people need our prayers in all countries around the world. The choir sang "Come to the Banquet." Amanda Hill read the scripture from John 3, vs 1-17. Rev. Carson's ser- mon was "Beholding the Cross' Exposure." Sacrament of the Lord's Supper was celebrated. The Lentscape 1999 is being held this Wednesday, March 3 at 7:30 p.m. at the Seagrave Church. The topic is "When is Anger Justified," The Cleansing of the Temple." Lindsay Presbyterial U.C.W. annual meeting will be held at Cannington this Thursday, March 4. Registration begins at 9:30 a.m. The speaker is Betty Radford Turcott. Her topic is "The Close of the Ecumenical Decade." The World Day of Prayer Service is at Seagrave Church on Friday, March 5 beginning with dessert at 12:45 p.m. The speaker is Jane Litt and the program is on Venezuela. There will be a pot luck supper at Seagrave Church on Friday, March 5 at 6 p.m. It is an appre- ciation evening to give thanks for all the 1998 improvements and a time of historical reflection and consideration of new direc- tions. Seagrave U.C.W. will meet one week later on Wednesday, March 10 at 1:30 p.m. at the home of Jacqui Beamish. That's the news for this week. Truck stolen from Caesarea residence and torched Durham Regional Police were called to the Ceasarea area last week after a truck was stolen from a Regional Rd. 57 address and destroyed. Sometime between 1 p.m. and 2:30 p.m. on Feb. 26, police report that a red 1990 Dodge pickup was taken from an area residence and driven to a location near Mahood Dr. and Hwy. 7A where it was set on fire. Firefighters from the Scugog Fire Department's Ceasarea station were called to attend. The owner of the truck reports returning home from work around 1 p.m. and noticed that the truck was in the driveway and was locked with no keys in it.
