There is also a local Citizen Report Form Drop Box conveniently located at oo Country Convenience Store in Blackstock. We now have the opportunity to report the irresponsible driver who not only risks herself/himself but others on the road. If there is an interested group in our community who would like to learn more about this very worthwhile program, someone will come to speak about it. But now it is up to each of us to do our part. Don't always rely on someone else to do it for you. St. John's News In the afternoon, on Friday, March 5, Ste. Bernadette's Church hosted the World Day of Prayer. The theme for this year's agenda was The People of Venezuela. Approximately 40 people attended with repre- d Bonspiel sentatives from all of the churches in our area. Several members of St. John's were present and enjoyed the World Day of Prayer. All churches participated in the program. St. John's shared in the Call to Worship, the scripture readings and prayers. Father Hogan gave an excellent talk based on a reading from Hosea. The cof- fee time was enjoyed after the service. We thank Ste. Bernadette's for organizing and hosting this very special afternoon. A job well done. At our service on Sunday, March 7, Father Hugh remind- ed us, in his sermon, that "God Knows What We Are Up To." That is a very sobering thought and I'm sure that after listening | to Hugh most of us made a men- tal note to alter our behaviour wherever we could. Our choir sang "Hymn of Prayer" and they did a spectacular job. We all enjoyed the coffee time after church. The provincial - Minister of Health reported to 'us at one meeting I attended that we would be getting 50 cents per head of our population from the province. That is 19,000 people times 50 cents equals $9,500. Susan Hubbard and Family Wish to thank the people who stopped to help Susan and son Steven at the accident scene of Feb. 25. They have now regained normal health but the car was a write-off. Many thanks and God Bless You. Something To Think About A man who owned an older car with no collision insurance was forced off the road and the car rolled over. The police, fire, and ambulance departments all arrived on the scene. Later as he was not a resident of Oshawa received a bill for $1,100. His insurance company said "He wasn't covered as that fell under the collision section of insur- ance." Ask your agent? I have $500 deductible on my collision. Joke of the Week The tail gunner was being court martialled. "What did yon hear in your headset?" demand- ed a superior officer. Well, replied the airman "I heard my squadron leader holler enemy planes at five o'clock." "And what action did you take?" per- sisted the officer. "Why sir" replied the gunner, "I just sat back and waited. It was only 4:30." Pine Ridge Garden Club We had a great turnout last Tuesday for our pot luck supper. The guest speaker Dianne Lackie gave an excellent talk with her many slides on pho- tography, of all types of shrubs, flowers and garden accessories to study. It is obvious we are off to another great year of friend- ship and knowledge.
