"A Family Tradition for 133 Years" PORT PERRY STAR - Tuesday, March 16, 1999 - 13 Families honoured for restorations The Port Perry Historical Society honoured two local families for their efforts 'in restoring buildings along Port Perry's historical main street last Ea Thursday evening at Town Hall 1873. Above, the Stone family accept their plaque for the restoration of the old Leonard Block at 271 Queen St., which included cleaning more than 1 million bricks and rebuilding the storefronts. Above, accepting a plaque from past president Paul Arculus are, left, Dan Stone, Jane-Anne Shortly and Ruth Stone, far right. The Forder/Smith family, bottom right, were recognized for the meticulous detail and work on the building which is now occupied by Dana's Goldsmithing at 186 Queen St. The building has been com- pletely restored outside and inside, including the original 1884 tin ceiling in the store. Father who _ lost son to lung disease is honourary chairman Lung Association needs volunteers Former Scugog Township Mayor Howard Hall has been chosen as the honorary chairman for the Lung Association's annual fund raising campaign this year. Mr. Hall and his wife Zula lost their only son, Ted, to a severe asthma attack in 1985 when he was only 32 years-old. Other members of the Hall family are also 'inflicted with the disabling disease. = ~The Lung Association will "be hold its annual door to door fund raising campaign "in Port Perry from May 1 to 16. and are now looking for 'volunteers.
