By Chris Hall Port Perry Star Officials have nar- rowed their search for a new site for North Durham police station, and have begun prelimi- nary work on the pro- ject. While Durham Regional Police Deputy Chief Derek Denson wouldn't confirm or deny that the former site of Neil Bacon Auctions -- located at the intersec- tion of Hwys. 12 and 47 - - was the selected site as is rumoured, he did state that staff have been given the go-ahead 'to start looking into building requirements for a certain location. "That might very well be the site," he said yes- terday when asked about the Greenbank - location. "But it is subject to terms and conditions and has not been formal- ly approved. "There. are things staff have to do in regards to some issues, the building require- ments of Durham Region... things have to be explored, there is no signed contract, no for- mer offer, it has not been approved totally," said the deputy chief. ~ In its five-year facili- ties plan, the Durham Service earmarked $2.5 million for the project which Deputy Chief Denson calls "a very good solid number".
