Over 60 members and friends enjoyed a delicious meal served by the ladies of the Head U.C.W.,, sev- eral of whom are founding members of the society, plus we were served by three generations of one family. Greetings were brought to us by Councillor David Dietlein, Scugog Township, and Ms Lisa Edgar-Menzies, The Mississaugas of Scugog Island First Nation. Paul Arculus spoke on the history of the society Sunshine Pool & Fitness Summer Swimming Lessons and recognition was given by the president to Bill and Claudétte Brock, whose enthusiasm 30 years ago helped to establish the Lake Scugog Historical Society. The evening was filled with talk and laughter, the door prizes from various donors added to the fun. The U.C.W. ladies gave us three delicious home made pies to auction, and we discovered that Paul Arculus is not only a historian, but also a great auc- tioneer. Two of our special guests were Gretel Cameron, soloist, and her accompanist, Diana Mackey, who entertained us with songs both serious and humor- ous. Gretel also led us in an old fashioned sing- song.
