A full day of fellowship was enjoyed by U.C.W. members and some of their spouses last Tuesday 'when they held their June outing with lunch at Swiss Chalet in Uxbridge and then a tour of the Uxbridge Library. In the evening several of the women enjoyed a bounti- ful buffet, fellowship and program as guests of Uxbridge U.C.W. Recent guests with Ruth Ashton were Ken and Beth Catherwood of Bobcaygeon, Alan and Joyce Ashton of Oakwood and Faye, Keith and Robert Ashton. I'm pleased to report that Heather Ashton is now home from hospital where she was a patient following her accident. Several friends and family visited on Sunday to wish her a happy birthday and for her continued recovery. Ed and Donna Eckhart feel very fortunate that they were not seriously injured when they were involved in an accident on Saturday on their way to Oshawa. Our prayers are with the Hillis Wilbur family and for their son Lee who was seriously injured on Saturday in a swimming accident. Lee is a patient in Sunnybrook Hospital with a serious neck injury. An update from Road Watch shows that progress is being made in many areas with viola- tions being reported. A reminder to those in our area that forms and a deposit box are at Utica Store so jot down license numbers, etc. and slow down some of these people who race through our vil- lages. Several of us got a scare on Saturday as two cars collided at the Utica intersection. Could have been worse. And I understand that the strawberries are blessed and ready for the picking at Willowtree Market. Best to call ahead to be sure. Car damaged by vandals Durham Police were called to a Platten Blvd. address after vandals caused considerable damage to a 1989 Mazda. Police report that sometime around 3 a.m. on June 12 vandals smashed the rear and right side windows on the vehicle as well as the windshield. They also dented the roof, add police. No damage estimate has been made avail- able yet, police say.
