She succumbed on Tuesday, June 8. Marilyn had contributed much to the life of our church. Her organiza- tional skills were out- standing and she con- tributed greatly to the success of the Hospitality Committee's activities as a planner, leader and a tireless worker. Marilyn was {artistic and this flair was evident at St. John's, every Christmas and Easter, in the beau- tiful decorations which she had designed, made, and placed in the church. Marilyn together with her mother, Elma Vaughan, were faithful parishioners who trav- elled from their home in Whitby to St. John's every Sunday ... come rain or snow or whatever the weather might throw at them. Only in the few months since Marilyn's sickness was diagnosed have they been absent from our congregation. We shall all miss Marilyn's cheerful smile, quick wit and enthusi- asm. Our hearts go out to Elma, to her brother Bill and to Terry and Tim, her sons. We pray for them and for Marilyn. Father Hugh officiated at the funeral which was held in Oshawa on Friday last. A large number of St. John's parishioners joined with many rela- tives and friends of the family in saying good- bye. We, at St. John's, are still in shock at the loss of two very dear friends but our grief is tempered by the joy we experi- enced in knowing them and being with them. We were humbled to realize how many lives each of them had touched during their time on this earth, as witnessed by the many, many people from Blackstock, and throughout Scugog and surrounding areas, who came to say goodbye. Get well wishes to Katherine Cooke who is on crutches for a few days due to a few stitches on her foot. Happy birthday wishes go out this week to Savannah Williams. Many from Seagrave congregation joined with Pinedale on Sunday for their Sunday School Anniversary. The students . and teachers conducted a very inspiring service including a puppet skit on "Being a good neigh- bour." The students received their Sunday School awards. A social time followed the service. Seagrave Church Service will resume next Sunday, June 20 at 10 a.m. when a new organ will be dedicated. Ladies please bring sandwiches or squares for a social time after the service. Choir practice will be this Wednesday at 7:30 p-m. at the church. Please note change of date. Scugog Shores Museum Sunday Evening Musicales will be held next Sunday, June 20 at 7:30 p.m. A reminder to all - Ann and I will not be writing a Seagrave news column during the month of August. So if you have anything you need announced please do so over the next few weeks. The Robinglade Estates Kids Day in the park has been delayed and will be rebooked for the summer.
