The washrooms were the first tar- get of the fair board members as they began the preliminary work necessary to replace the aging facili- ties beneath the grandstand. "We're going to tear down the old ones and build some new ones... these are going to be wheelchair accessible and we need to get some ) new sewer lines," said Michelle fair board. "This is going to be the first of many Saturdays that we're going to be having work bees to make some changes at the fair ground. Hopefully we'll have them all ready for the fall." The fair board applied for a Trillium Grant from the government to cover the costs of a new wash- room, but are prepared to pay for it out of their own pockets if necessary, she says. "We applied for a grant for the washrooms and if we get it then great. We can put our money into new fences, fixing leaky roofs and running electricity out to the cattle stalls." The cost of building new wash- rooms for men and women is expect- says Ms Smale.
