Regional works department officials have already selected four potential sites for the proposed 10,000 square-foot station, and interviews are being conduct- ed in an effort to hire an architecture firm to handle the project, said director of operations Jack McCorkell. "We have begun the process and are moving along in two areas right now," he said yesterday. © a "The architecture selection process is under way; we've invited five firms and we've already interviewed three. We anticipate giving a recommendation to the. 2 A works committee come mid-September," said "Mr. McCorkell, adding that all five firms are based .in Durham. Four potential sites for the new 26 Division head- quarters have also been selected. "We've shortlisted the sites and have appraisals on the property," he said, noting that Durham Regional Police have asked the region to centre the project around the general area of the intersection of Hwy. 12 and Reach Rd. "Depending on the soil tests and property negotia- tions, we hope to go to committee and (regional) coun- cil for (architecture) recommendation and property acquisition around mid-to-end September."
