We went through the usual business and reviewed the minutes of last fall's meet- ing with copies for every- one. The financial state- ment of September 1998 to September 1999 was submitted with copies for everyone. The 1999 regat- ta was reviewed with thanks to those who worked so hard. We then got into the pros and cons of the lease or ownership of Putsey Park. If we renew the pre- sent agreement the town- ship covers us for taxes and insurance but we maintain the park with grass cutting and general repairs. Should we accept ownership we have taxes, insurance, the general maintenance and care. The other alternative is to turn it over to the town- ship. Shangri-la Country Club & Restaurant The meeting proceeded with the election officers for the next two years. President - Raymond Putsey; First Vice- President - Gary Rogers; Second Vice-President - Scott Lindsay; Treasurer - Dianne Rogers; Secretary - Katherine Handlesperger; Sports Director - Johgy Morgan said he would help. At this poinfthe meet- ing adjourned. Alex Ingram Alex dropped in the other day to tell me of the Sunday Night hour of good music at the Museum Church on the Island at 7 p.m. Sept. 12. Also in aid of the Cardiac Catheterization and Heart Catheter and a concert, Sept. 23 at 8 p.m. at the Fenelon Theatre. Admission is $5. For more information call 1-705- 887-8011. For those people trying to watch their warstlines, but still find it necessary to eat frequently in restaurants, here are a few ideas to make life easier. 1. Steer away from high fat foods: saturated, pan fried, creamed in gravy, buttered. 2. Choose lower fat menu items: steamed, poached, aujus, roasted, baked or broiled. 3. To reduce portion sizes, order appetizers or from the lighter side rather than a large main course. 4. Order salad dressings on the side, foods without gravy or sauces and plain veggies: 5. Ask to have no break basket 6. Order baked or boiled potatoes, not French fries. Ask for small amount of margarine on the side. - 7. Salad bars are great, however, avoid prepared salads or marinated salads. Go lightly on croutons or seeds 8. Good dessert choices are fresh fruits or sorbets 9 In fast food restaurants, order a plain burger rather than a chicken or fish sandwich. These sandwiches are loaded with fancy sauces. 50 in order to enjoy restaurant food and still try to lose weight, choose wisely and be sure to drink lots of H20!
