Councillors adopted a resolution of support for the municipality of Saugeen Shores, which is calling on Queen's Park to give rural municipali- ties 'the power to control large beef, poultry and hog operations, especially in the area of nutrient management, the storage and disposal of manure. Saugeen Shores and Scugog Township share several similarities in that they both have simi- lar populations, are increasingly tourist ori- ented, have complex watershed systems, and many rural homes with shallow wells. In recent years inten- sive livestock operations with huge numbers of animals or poultry have become more and more popular. And in some cases they are creating environmental problems rgest of parrots. ere will also be birds and bird related items for sale and many fioms at the giant raf- Olan Sno - The event will be held at the Pickering Recreation Complex, 1867 Valley Farm Road, Pickering from 10 am.-to 4 p.m. Admission is $3 for adults, $2 for seniors and children under 12. Scugog council was quick to agree that the concerns spelled out in the Saugeen Shores reso- lution are exactly the same as those expressed recently in this munici- pality.
