All offices were filled and duly installed by Lynda Clements and Fred Alton. Many members from other chapters attended as well as relatives of the new Worthy Matron, Betty Short. She will be assisted by Worthy Patron, Peter Miles. The lower hall was decorated in blue and gold balloons accented by stars and rainbows for the delicious luncheon convened by Marguerite Mitchell. Good luck to all officers and members as they work together for benevolent pur- poses. Don't forget the Court Whist Party at the Masonic Hall on Friday, Oct. 22 at 7:30 p.m. Nestleton Presbyterian Church Anniversary The 154th Anniversary was cele- brated on Sept. 26 at 11 a.m. with a good attendance. The choir "A Touch of Country" provided special music open- ing with "Where the Spirit of the Lord is" and later sang "O Lord Most Holy" and "No Man is an Island" with Carol Edgar as accompanist. Rev. Fairley continued his stories of the miracles of Jesus. He brought an inspirational message with an anniver- sary theme. Flowers were in memory of Howard Lee, Richard Davison and Arnold Taylor. The choir closed the ser- vice with "Go Now in Peace." A bountiful lunch was served in the lower hall. Next Sunday, Oct. 10 will be the Thanksgiving Service. It was a pleasure to visit with former Nestleton residents, Barney and Dorothy McCabe, and Shirley and Alison Scott on the weekend. Cartwright High School students will be asking for pledges for their Terry Fox Run on Oct. 7. Please help the students in this worthwhile cause. Last week I wrote about my volunteers who came out on a tree planting exercise. Wednesday I drove down to inspect them to make sure none had blown over with the wind we had and what did 23 Years Service I see? Six of the plastic sleeves we put around the trees main stem to prevent mice from eating the bark had been taken. This weekend some one dug up about three of the bumperettes near the sign in Putsey Park and took them away. They were put around the park years ago to discourage people from driving over the park property with motorized machines. Pine Ridge Garden Club Don't forget this Tuesday at 8 p.m. at Nestleton Hall is the gar- den club meeting. The main topic of this meeting is Dugold Cameson who will give a slide presentation and talk on rare bulbs. Monthly competition is "Horn of Plenty" a cornu- copia using fresh materi- als.
