SY i Sale of prints will raise funds for Scugog museum By Chris Hall Port Perry Star Local artist Phil Wooding has offered his services in an effort to raise more than $1,500 for the Scugog Shores Museum. The Port Perry artist has created sepia tone pen and ink drawing called "The Old Wagon Chassis", a rendition of an old barn and wagon frame that can be found at the Scugog Shore's Museum. "Drawing i8 one of my hobbies, actually my favourite hobby," he said last week. "I've been out to the museum grounds a few times and I've taken some good photos of the area, which I thought would make a. good drawing." : Mr. Wooding said he has heard about tight finan- cial times at the museum: "That's when I decided to do the drawing and make some prints to help out." " Mr. Wooding has had 50 limited edition prints made. He has turned 40 of them over to The Framers Gallery here in Port Perry, where they will be on sale. The prints will each sell for $40, with 100 per cent of the proceeds going to help fund the museum. "We were approached with the idea and it seemed - like a really great way to help out. The unframed prints are available now... we're just doing what we can to help out," said Warren Strong, co-owner of The Framer's Gallery, at 237 Queen St. Mr. Wooding hopes that visitors to Port Perry may be able to help out, even if they don't pay a visit to the Scugog Island museum. "A lot of people come to Port Perry and walk the streets and check out the shops," he said. "We're hop- ing that they'll come into The Framer's Gallery and even though they may not have visited the museum, they can purchase a print and lend their support to it." pot: } Scugog artist Phil Wooding {z6cand from left) has created a drawing of "The Old Wagon Chassis" at the Scugog Shores Museum, which he has made into a set of limited edition prints. He has turned 40 over to the Scugog Shores Museum curator Susan Neale said the promotion comes at a time of need for the facility. "Our grants from the government have dropped by more than $2,000, so if all the prints sell and we get the $1,600... that would certainly help to make up the ET £ 'Museum, and they will be sold at The ad Framer's Gallery in Port Perry for $40 each. Joining Mr. Wooding are Gallery owner Warren Strong, muse- um curator Susan Neale and Bob Beach, chair of the museum board. difference," she said. "It will help out a lot in keeping the buildings and grounds."
