I "A Family Tradition for 133 Years" The Holiday Season is just around the corner now It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas everywhere you go in Port Perry. The Santa Claus Parade is fast approaching. This favourite event for all ages will be held on Saturday, Nov. 27 at 2 p.m. The Community Nursing Home and Villa'will be holding their Christmas Memories Bazaar on Saturday, Dec. 4 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. All proceeds from the bazaar go towards supporting the resi- dent's activities such as outings, crafts, entertainment, etc. Scugog Island United Church Rev. Doug Warren was the guest speaker at our service on Sunday. His up-lifting message was enjoyed by the congregation. The Moms and Tots and Friends will meet on Wednesday, Nov. 17 at 9:30 a.m. at S.I1.U.C. Yoga classes continue on Wednesdays from 7 to 8:30 p.m. There are a few openings so call Laura at 985-7579 if you are inter- ested. Choir practice will be held on Thursday, Nov. 18 at 7 p.m. The Wellness Group will meet on Thursday, Nov. 18 at 7:30 p.m. 'Scugog Island at S.I.U.C. There will be a social time for the congregation for all ages on Saturday, Nov. 20 at 6 p.m. A pot luck supper (bring first and second course), square dancing, cards and games are planned. Please plan to attend. The Pastoral Charge Official Board meeting will be held on Tuesday, Nov. 23 at 8 p.m. at Manchester United Church. Scugog Island Elders, Stewards, U.C.W,, Sunday School and Youth Group representatives are encour- aged to attend. The beginning of the search for a new minister for Scugog Island It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas United Church requires the for- mation of a Needs Assessment and Search Committee. This group will assemble your individual thoughts in the form of a questionnaire for selection of a new minister. The people on the committee shall be made up fram a cross section of those who attend church on a fairly regular basis. A good cross section being someone representing the various committees, and from the - congregation both men and women representing different age groups. If you feel inclined to be part of this important process, please con- tact Jim at 985-0661 before Nov. 28. A congregational meeting will be held on Sunday, Nov. 28 imme- diately after the church service for the purpose of approving a motion to elect those who will serve on the Needs Assessment and Search Committee.
