A great time was had by the Seagrave Fellowship Secret Sisters as they had their Annual Christmas Dinner and Gift Exchange last Friday evening at the Kinsmen Hall in Port Perry. The Pot Luck Dinner was amazing thanks to all mem- bers contributing such deli- cious food! The women enjoyed very much being entertained by a magician. Many thanks to all who helped in any way. Thanks again to Wanamaker's Store in Seagrave for the donation of the lovely Door Prize Basket. Members currently total 42 with new members welcome at any time. Congratulations to three Seagrave boys; Kyle Blair, Nick Leveille and Michael Cook, who along with their team mates on the Mariposa Lightning Atom A's hockey team finished in 2nd place at the Grafton Tournament this past weekend. As if all hockey tournaments were not exciting enough, the second game ended in a tie, followed by 4 on 4 for 1q minute, 3 on 3 etc.. 1 on 1 was Kyle Blair who scored and gave our team a much deserved victory! Gretel and Clarence Cameron of Robin Glade Estates will be entertaining company from England. June Stevens, Gretel's cousin, will be arriving this Thursday. Everyone is looking forward to having her here over the holi- day season and into the New Year! Hope you have a won- derful holiday June! Our local Beavers and cubs will be selling beautiful red poinsettias as 'a fundraiser Sun., Dec. 5th at the Seagrave Church (prior to and after the service). Day program at Seagrave Church this Friday, December 3, from 8:30 a.m. to 2:45 p.m. The theme is Christ, the per- son of hope, peace, joy and love. There are four learning centers, - baking, crafts, music and story-telling. The Study Series entitled "From Jesus to Christ" contin- ues at Seagrave Church at 10 a.m. The meeting dates are Dec. 6, 13, Jan. 10, 17 and 24. Seagrave U.C.W. will hold their December meeting in the form of a pot-luck dinner on Monday, Dec. 6 at 12 noon at the church. Spouse and friends are welcome to attend. There will be a planning meeting for the Christmas Eve Service at Seagrave Church on Dec. 6, at 7:30 p.m. On the first Sunday in Advent, the Hill family lit the candle of Hope, and read the Reading, the congregation sand "Hope is a Star". Rew. Carson talked to the children about Christmas. The choir sang the anthem "The King shall Come". Darlene Hill read from the Book of Revelation 5: verses 1 - 14. Rev. Carson's sermon was "Apocalypse! Is the End Near?" The Sacrament of the Lord's Supper was celebrated. That's all for this week, please call Ann with your news for next week's column. preparing for Breakfast with Santa's coming up on Sunday Christmas season was ushered into this area on the weekend with the excellent Port Perry Santa Claus Parade which featured won- derful floats and bands. Congratulations to the organizers of this fine event which took place Saturday afternoon. On Sunday the Recreation Centre was aglow with the Christmas Craft Sale spon- sored by the Music Mothers of the Cartwright High School Band as a fundraiser for the band's trip to Halifax next spring. What a variety of crafts, many of which were on the Christmas theme. A speedy recovery is wished for the three locals who have recently under- gone hip surgery - Tim Lang, Leisa Phillips and Keith VanCamp who are in varied stages of recuperation. On Sunday a number of family and friends attended the Open House celebrating Vera Fawn's 80th birthday held in Port Perry. Cecil and Marie Gibson accompanied Anne and Peter Handerheul on sunday to Sterling to pay respects to Ruby Hudson, Gibson. Lucky draw winners were Lois Huntington, Art Gibson, and Art Audrey Mabhafty, Gary Nottenboom, Dorothy Olan and Lorna Edgerton. The annual Pancake Breakfast with Santa will be held at the Recreational Centre next Sunday, December 5 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. In addition there will be a Silent Auction. Practice for the Greenbank Youth Choir will be Wed., Dec. 1 from 5:00 to 6:00 p.m. The evening unit U.C.W. will meet Wed., Dec. 1 at 7:30 p.m. at the church. It will be the Christmas cookie exchange. If you wish to participate, please bring 6 doz. plus 3 for sampling. Greenbank Christmas Concert rehearsal for all Sunday School classes and Youth Choir on Fri., Dec. 3 from 5 to 7 p.m. with pizza being served.
