Congratulations to the committee and all partici- pants. Hospital Auxiliary The Bake Sale will be held on Fri., Dec. 3rd at 10 am in the lobby of our local hospital. Poinsettias will be on sale at "Camille's Corner", (gift shop in the hospital). A reminder to Auxiliary members, the tickets for the Christmas Luncheon are avail- able at the gift shop. Christmas Memories Bazaar The Nursing Home and Villa presents their "Christmas Memories Bazaar" on Sat., Dec. 4th from 10 am to 3 pm. Island Dance Studio Now accepting registration for second term. First term Parent's Day will be held on Dec. 9th, 10th at regular class time. Come and see your chil- dren and friends perform in class. Check out our Christmas Raffle, baked goods and enter to win "Merry Turkey". Come to the Scugog Island Community Centre on the evenings of Dec. 2 or 3, 9 or 10 for details. Scugog Island United Church The first Sunday in Advent was observed on Sunday with Baptism. We welcome Jamie Patricia Bardocz, daughter of Bryan & Carol Bardocz and Jacob Vincent Bardocz, son of David and Mary Bardocz. Reg, Sara and Emily Davis partici- pated in lighting the Advent Wreath. The Moms & Tots & Friends will meet on Wed., Dec. 1st at 9:30 a.m. at S.1.U.C. Choir practice will be held on Thurs., Dec. 2nd at 7 p.m. The Wellness Group will meet at 7:30 p.m. at SI1.U.C. on Thurs., Dec. 2nd. The Second Sunday in Advent Service will be held on Sun., Dec. 5th at our regular service time at 9:45 a.m. Please bring a poinsettia to help deco- rate the church. The orchestra will be providing special music. A play will also be presented in the form of a T.V. show entitled "The Journey". The Sunday School will have a Pageant Rehearsal following the service. The Grace U.C.W. will meet on Wed., Dec. 8th at 5:30 p.m. for their Christmas meeting at the home of Marilyn Di Paolo. Sunday School is at the same time as « church service. The next regular joint board meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, Nov. 30 at 7 p.m. in Goodwood Church. Quite a number of personal care items were collected for Massey House on Sunday but if there is anyone who wishes to donate things such as shampoo, toothpaste, or brushes, deodor- ant, facecloths, towels, soap, slippers or nightgowns to be used as gifts for single mothers, they can still be turned in. I was pleased to learn that Alice Ross is home from hospital following her recent knee 'Utica & Epsom surgery and is coming along quite nicely with her rehabili- tation. Several members of the com- munity attended the Uxbridge Players production of "Anyone for Murder." Congratulations to two local performers Elaine Tustin and Grant Evans for a job well done. The agriculture community were especially pleased to have two Ontario County gentlemen, F. Roy Ormiston and George R. McLaughlin, installed into the Agriculture Hall of Fame at the Royal Winter Fair recently. Ross and Barbara Evans were pleased to be part of that evening's activities. Congratulations to Durham West Gold for the Gold team's third place finish. Thanks to all who coached them. Recent visitors with Ruth Ashton were Ken and Beth Catherwood and Betty Tapscott. Ken Brown lit the "Candle of Hope" to honour the First Sunday of Advent By Florence Ashton Ashburn News Sunday, being the first Sunday of Advent, Ken Brown lit the Candle of Hope. The Sacrament of Holy Communion was celebrated, with Rev. Ian Morrison officiating who will be with us until early January. The Kirk Guild Bake Sale will be held on Saturday, December 4 in the church hall - from 9 am. - 12 p.m. " The Uxbridge Youth Choir - "Voices of Angels" and the Uxbridge Community Choir - "One Voice" will be performing at Burns Church at 7 p.m., December 12.
