Durham Regional Police report that an 18-year-old Uxbridge woman was alone in her Spruce St. home after her family went out around 9 p.m. on Dec. 10. Shortly after they left, someone knocked at the front door and the victim answered it. The victim managed to free herself from the suspect's grasp and he left, police say. She was taken to an Uxbridge hospital where she was treated for minor injuries and released. The suspect is described as a white male, approximately 510" and 170 pounds, with short brown hair and a hooded sweat shirt. Police are calling the assault unpro- voked. Durham Regional Police report that the remains, found by a hunter on the evening of Dec. 3, have been passed along to the Centre of Forensic Sciences in Toronto. There, they will be examined by Dr. Jerry Melbye, a foren- sic anthropologist with the University of Toronto, and Dr. Dean Knight, an archaeologist and anthropologist from Sir Wilfred Laurie University near Waterloo. Police were notified of the find some- time during the afternoon of Dec. 4, the day after a hunter stumbled upon the skeletal remains while walking in a field in the area of Harmony Rd. North and Coates Rd. East in north Oshawa. The area was sealed off and the Durham Forensic Identification Unit was called in. Anyone with information on this incident is asked to call Detectives Whiteway or Heasman at the Durham Regional Police Homicide Unit at 579- 1520, extension 5326 or 5329, or Crime Stoppers at 436-TIPS.
