Wendy Bourgeois, the township's network administrator who looks after Scugog's municipal computer systems, announced yesterday that the worldwide concern over the turning of the century and the accompanying millennium bug was, as expected, all hype. "No problems... it's business as usual," she sald Monday afternoon. The township began its preparations for 2000 more than a year ago and, since then, had taken the proper precautions to ensure that all the municipal systems would be working when the Jan. 1 rolled around. There have been concerns for the past several years that computers would not work properly come the new millennium because their internal dating systems would not recognize the 00 digit designating 2000. "In the early part of last summer we looked at some upgrades and what we might need to replace to bé Y2K com- pliant," she said, noting that some municipal software was changed and a few new computers were brought in before the new year.
