Supped sister Owner shocks thieves, tracks down his sled Two young thieves got a big surprise last week- end when a Port Perry man who had a snowmo- bile stolen tracked them down. Durham Regional Police report that around 4 a.m. on Jan. 8 a Scugog St. resident awoke to the sound of a sled starting. Upon checking outside, she discovered that someone had stolen a 1998 Arctic Cat, valued at approximately $8,000. Later that morning, around 9 a.m., officers on patrol on Island Rd. were flagged down by a citizen who informed them that his wife's machine had been stolen earlier in the ~ day. The man told them that he had followed the machine's tracks to a home on Scugog Island. The man got into the cruiser and went with the officers to a location near the Mississauga's Trail where the machine was found. The officers followed a set of footprints to a Demara Rd. residence. There they charged two youths in connection with the theft. As a result, a 16-year- old Port Perry male has been charged with one count of theft under $5,000 and one count of possession under $5,000. He will appear in an Oshawa court on Feb. 4. A l4-year-old Ajax male has also been charged with one count of theft under $5,000 and one count of possession under $5,000 as well as one count of breach of probation-and one count of breach of undertaking.
