[Port [Perry Firefighter honoured Jamie Donaldson receives award from his peers By Chris Hall Port Perry Star Veteran firefighter Jamie Donaldson has been rec- ognized for his commit- ment to the safety of the community. A firefighter with the Scugog Fire Department for the past 13 years, Mr. Donaldson was presented with the Port Perry Firefighters' Association's annual Firefighter of the Year award Jan. 10. The award is voted on by firefighters and officers at the Port Perry station. They consider each eligi- ble member's attendance, attitude, and skills. The award has been handed out for four years now; firefighter Stuart Houthuys has won twice, and District Chief David Ballingall once. "I'm very proud to accept it; and all the fire- fighters here should be proud of the job they are doing as well," Mr Donaldson said last week. "We should also be proud of and thank our wives and families, who understand when we have to get up in the middle of the night or from the din- ner table. It does put a strain on your relationship a in 0 Jamie Donaldson (left) is congratulated by Scugog Fire Chief Richard Miller upon being named Firefighter of the Year.
