While she admits that she knew of the municipal- ity's law against parking a commercial vehicle in a residential area, Carol Sheridan says that she got the okay to park her 72- passenger school bus behind her Circle Dr. home shortly after she began dri- ving for Sunderland's Stock Transportation in October. "Everyone said that it was okay and that it would- n't be a problem... some people even seemed shocked that | would ask," Mrs. Sheridan said last. week. A driveway was con- structed behind her house for the bus, and plans were made to put up a gate and fence around the vehicle as well. But a neighbour to the north of her home, whom Mrs. Sheridan says had given her the okay to park her bus in the neighbour- hood, filed a complaint with Scugog bylaw enforce- ment officer Bill Henshall just before Christmas. "We received a com- plaint about the bus and we have to act," he said. "There is a bus there and the bylaw states that com- mercial vehicles weighing over one tonne are not allowed in residential areas. She has to park it elsewhere." If the vehicle is not removed, charges will be laid, he said. "If people have a legiti- mate complaint, such as in this case, we have to act.
