Lions Ken Hudson, Bruce, and Albert will be attending the Regional meeting in Mount Albert on Feb. 8. Our congratulations to Denzil Moore on his birthday Jan. 31. Pine Ridge Garden Club Although our next meeting is March 7 and it appears a long way off, may | add a point of 'suggestion. This winter many of us will be taking vitamin pills or other additives to our diet. Most of these items come in dark or milk white plastic con- tainers. These are the perfect thing to store your flower seeds in after this summer's blooms. Lake Scugog Historical Society At the meeting last Thursday night further discussions were held about the web site of the computer for advertising the Nonquon Canoe races for June 3 in Port Perry. Bruce Aikins and Susan Dutton volunteered to look over the trophies and see if updated labels were attached to the cups. This Albert HELE a' LC A. appears to be a problem as they do not have all the paper work from last year. Also, if there were any of the round cloth badges left over from last year, they would like to see them. If anyone is holding any paper work from last year, please turn it into the museum office. Two years ago our two flow- ering crab apple trees were loaded with fruit at this time of the year. Last year we had the driveway asphalted and by fall there wasn't an apple on the tree. This year we have loads again and so far we haven't seen our Bohemian Waxwing flock which entertained us every day two years ago. We have the morning doves, blue jays, cardinals, chickadees and sparrows at the feeder. We have seen the downy wood- pecker but he still hasn't found the suet block attached to one of the trees. On Friday evening the annual meeting of the Blackstock Agricultural Society will be held with the pot luck dinner at 7 p.m. followed by comedi- an Denis Grignon at 8 p.m. The busi- ness meeting will follow Denis' pre- sentation. All are welcome to join the evening. The annual Robert Fletcher Memorial Bonspiel will be held this Saturday, Jan. 29 at the arena. An added feature is the silent auction which is enjoyed by the public as well as the curlers. There were 10 tables at the Tuesday evening euchre party with the following winners: Eileen Owens, Edna Manns, Mary Henderson, Grace Bassant, Verna Robinson, Charlie Stapleton, Jean and Merrill Van Camp (tie). Lucky draw winners were: Marie Gibson, Elwood Manns, Muriel Selby, Verna Slute, Lyle McMahon and Vivian Kidd. On the third Sunday of Epiphany the choir sang "A Clare Benediction." Rev. Carson talked to the children about the chores they like to do and those that they don't like to do around the hoise. The scripture from Jonah 3 vs 1-5 and Mark | vs 14- 20 was read by Henrika. The sermon was "Him of The Great Fish" referring to the prophet Jonah.
