Metheral found the low corner just inside the post on a shot from a fairly sharp angle. McQuade's first goal was just under the cross bar and the other two were re-directs from the slot After weathering a rocky first period in which they surrendered two power play goals to the Ice, the MoJacks turned in one of their best periods all season in putting five behind Ice goalies Colin O'Neill and Travis Filby. At the other end of the rink, Jeff Mackie went the dis- tance for the Mojacks and turned in another rock solid game between the irons. With the post-season fast approaching, Mackie is giving the team the consistent effort that made him a Central League All Star. He's looking very much like the netminder who had such a big role in the stretch drive that got the MoJacks into the playoffs by a single point two seasons ago. He's playing with all kinds of confidence which is spilling over to the guys in front of him. This was a bit of a chippy game with both teams taking a steady stream of minor penalties. Mark McPherson and Darrin Forbes both used their size and strength to punish Ice skaters at every chance, and coach Tom Thornbury had McPherson on the power play where he parked himself squarely in front of the Ice net. But the hardest hit of the game came early in the third when MoJack defenseman Darryl Rose lined up John Gillison at the blue line and knocked him flat with a shoulder to the mid-section. SLAPSHOTS: With the overall importance of the up- coming home-and-home series between the MoJacks and the Bruins, fans in both arenas can expect to see Jr. C hockey at its best. The rivalry between the two teams goes back years and with second place on the line things will most certainly heat up on Friday and Sunday nights. The MoJacks have enjoyed success in the four games to date against the Bruins with a 3-3 tie and three wins by scores of 3-2, 4-2 and 4-1. Game time Friday night in Uxbridge is 7:45 p.m. and Sunday in Port Perry the faceoff is at 7 p.m. After this coming weekend, the MoJacks have two games left on the schedule against the Merchants and Bobcaygeon, while the Bruins finish with back-to-back games against Georgina. Playoffs in the Central Jr. League will likely open on Tuesday, Feb. 15 with two series -- first-place Lakefield against the fourth-place team while the second- and third-place finishers square off. Both series are best-of- seven affairs with the winners meeting for the League championship and the right to advance to the next OHA round against the winner from the Eastern (Empire) League. We've created a monster in Tyson From Page 22 footwear) we heap scorn upon them because they lost without being injured enough to warrant our money or attention. And so in the final anal- ysis, while we as a society can not take the blame for the mess that is Mike Tyson, we must be blamed for his continued "career" for by petuate the wound.
