A blaze tore through the Waite Rd. home rent- ed by the couple and their two young daughters on Jan. 23, leaving them with nothing, said neighbour Cathie King. "They lost everything they had... they came home and found it on fire. Everything they had is gone," said Mrs. King. While the cause of the fire is unknown at this time, it is believed to have started in the basement and spread quickly from there. The family is now living at the Janetville Manse, but looking for other accommodations in the area where their oldest daughter -- they have two children, aged 2 and 9 -- can continue to attend Grandview School. In her effort to help her friends, Mrs. King has turned to the public to ask for any assistance possi- "awhile... ble, including clothing, fur- niture, financial donations or even a computer. "Anything to help out would be great; they need some money for first and last rent so they can get a place to live and some fur- niture and clothing," she said. "The mother is also attending school right now and she lost a brand-new computer and her text- books. Anyone who does- n't need their old comput- er anymore or who can lend her another one for it would be great- ly appreciated. "They were devastated by the loss, but they are in good spirits. Life will go on for them, they know that." Anyone wishing to lend the young family a hand can contact Cathie King at 986-0969, Sherri Majauskas at 986-1714, or Irene Kaas at the Dew Drop Inn at (905) 277-3341. Monetary donations can be dropped off at the Port Perry CIBC branch. The transit number is 3442; the account number is 7511930.
