The Association, which has had the involvement of Dave Kay for the past 17 years, and Diane Knutson and Dave McTaggart volunteering over the past several years, has some new faces. These three hardworking vol- unteers announced that they would be stepping down from their positions at a public meeting held last August. A new executive was sought and found at that meeting. The new committee includes Rick Lepp, Leanne Ashbridge, Nancy Lee, Linda Gilson, Cathy Englert, Rick "Lea and Ashley Lee. The P.P.D.M.S.A. has been in existence since 1962, and has been so successful because of different volun- teers taking a role at different times throughout its history, commented the newly appointed chairperson, Rick Lepp The executive council plays only a bit role in making the league a success, adds Mrs. Ashbridge, the newly appointed PPDMSA secretary. "We (the executive council) are only a small part of what makes softball enjoyable for children in Port Perry. The many people who volunteer their time and energy in the coaching roles, umpiring personnel and the parents who continue to come out to games and practices are all an integral part of the success." Approximately 290 young people, ranging in age from three to 18 registered to play softball last season, and gome growth is expected for this coming season. Those who registered last year should have already received an application form in the mail for this coming season. Anyone else interested in signing up their children can either register at the Tourist Information Centre (across from I.G.A..) on Feb. 26, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Registration forms are also available at KCI Variety (Sunys), Pineridge Sports, Scugog Public Library or at the Sunshine Pool and Fitness.
