Game one saw Port Perry Bantam one take Cobourg on their own ice by the score of 4- 2. Drawing first blood for Port was Gordon Smith assisted by Derek Bond and Trevor Lance, next saw Derek score assisted by Gordon. Port scored another first period goal by Jeff Tarbotton assisted by Spencer Churchill and Justin Shinn. Cobourg scored two goals to keep it close, but jeff found Nutty Chocolatiers take the first game, but lose the next two the net again assisted by Justin with a couple of minutes left to solidify the win. Mark Lott was amazing in net for Port Perry turning back almost every shot he faced. Game two was back at Port and Cobourg came out flying. It was all our guys could do to contain them, again Mark Lott was outstanding in the net. The game stayed close with Port scoring to close the gap to 2-1 midway through the first. Scoring for us was James Liske assisted by Chris McKitterick. Then early in the second the Chocolatiers scored again on an unassisted effort by Derek, but Cobourg was not to be out- done, scoring two more goals in the third to sew up a 5-2 win. Game three in Cobourg saw Port Perry start quick only to be thwarted by the Cobourg | squad. We did manage to score first on a nice give and go scored by Jeff Tarbotton assisted by Spencer. That was all the scoring from Port Perry as Cobourg got two quick goals in the second period and an insurance goal in the third to wrap up the series. The Port boys played their hearts out but came out short against a very good Cobourg squad. A thank you to the coaching Nutty Boys ousted by rival Cobourg Bantam squad staff of Pete Christie, Brian Stevenson and Steve Desautels for all their hard work and ded- ication to Port Perry Minor Hockey. Thank you to the play- ers for all the fun and excite- ment you bring to the fans. Thank you to the fans who brave cold rinks, late practices and lousy weather conditions to watch hockey. Gas Bar 5 Taylor Fuels 0 This game was all K.C I. " Gas Bar as they handled Taylor Fuels with ease picking up a 5-0 win. Jarett Harman had a pair of goals and one assist eluding Email yours port. a nice assist shot along the ice in the third period. Phil McBride also found the back of the net twice, while Dave Roth added one marker. Dale Gibbons had a fine game in the nets of K.C.1. as big saves throughout the game led to the shutout in this one sided contest. Goreski's Roofing 7 Monsma Electric 2 In the most offensive battle of the day, it was the Roofers dominating Monsma Electric by a final score of 7-2. Bill Van Camp had a solid game sniping ores, one goal and setting up two others. Doug Bronson also added a pair of goals, while single markers were achieved by Bill Foote with a nice snapshot upstairs, Scott Wilbur, Peter Somers and Warren Geer. Monsma goalscor- ers included Steve Groves and John Mackey who found the top left hand corner on the penal- ty shot. However, the Roofers were too domi- nant at both ends of the ice and the result was indeed a 7-2 victory. reports to The Star: perry. star@sympactico. ca Craig Kehoe nets the winner in the last minute to give Campkins the win Campkin's Peewees grab the B title at Clarington tourney The Campkin"s team trav- elled to Clarington on Feb. 5 for a Peewee hockey tourna- ment. Campkins had a great day, starting with a win against McGregor I.D.A. 6-1. Craig Kehoe had a fantastic game scoring a total of four goals, He was assisted by David DeKoning, Braedon Tunbridge and Pat McKinlay. Pat McKinlay also scored. on a beautiful play from Jeff Campkin and Braedon Tunbridge. Jeff Campkin and David DeKoning also set up Braedon Tunbridge for the final tally of the game. Robert Smith and Peter Dutka put in good defensive efforts to keep the drugists at bay. In the second game, Campkins fell to the very strong King-Ritson Dental team. They managed to tie the third period thanks to a goal by Jeff Campkin, assisted by Craig Kehoe. This gave them half a point towards the tour- nament total. The third game proved to be the most exciting, as Campkins just got by Re/Max Cornerstone by a 2-1 margin. Campkins came out strong and got two early goals, Jeff Campkin from Mike Brain, then "Craig Kehoe, on a breakaway. They allowed Re/Max a point in the second period and then hung on for the win in the third. Both Adam Hale and Brook MacKenzie were effective on defense to limit Re/Max's chances. This was enough to send Campkins to the "B" champi- onship game on Sunday when they faced Bowmanville Sports Shop. Campkins fell behind in the first period by one goal. Jeff Campkins opened the scor- ing for his team in the second on a great shot. Campkins took the lead in the third period on a goal by Craig Kehoe with help from Jeff Campkin and Robert Smith. But Bowmanville came back to tie the game with only 2:41 to go. Thirty seconds later Craig Kehoe notched the winning goal assisted by Jeff Campkin and Pat McKinlay. The last minutes of the game were a frenzy of exciting activity, but Campkins prevailed for the championship: The clear stars of the game were the goaltending duo of Tyler Leach and Nick Mcrae. Both goalies were absolutely fantastic and can take the cred- it keeping Campkins on top.
