"Scugog's Community Newspaper of Choice" PORT PERRY STAR - Tuesday, February 22, 2000 - 21 Caesarea News by Albert Putsey Village speed limits topic of Ratepayers Association meeting Caesarea Ratepayers I am very happy we had such a good progressive meeting last Thursday. The highlight of the evening was the electing of Scott Lindsay as our secretary and Daniel Janssens as treasurer. We had a very good turnout but | was sorry to see two of our regulars were out of town. Since our last meeting we have been car- rying out a study of speed signs. Our speed limit is 50 kph throughout the village except two areas in Williams Point which is 40. General discussion was to leave it be. After all south Nestleton is 60 kph with playground bordering the highway. | appeared before the Scugog Townships Parks and Recreation Board last Monday re signs for our town and one for Caesar's cemetery. The township has taken "hamlet signs" into the budget for further study. If we want anything extra other than their basic layout we will have to pay extra. The sign for Caesar's cemetery was tabled only at this time. The two park benches for the big pier area was car- ried in the budget and for further study. Travelling east on Hwy. 57 from our main four corners there is an area where the power lines are on the north side of the street and we could plant trees in this area. We'll ask the Blackstock Lions for a donation towards this program which we are thankful they gave us last year. Cartwright High School Be sure to get your tickets to the dinner and evening of entertainment for March 25 at the Rec. Centre. There will be a silent auction along with the music. Price is $20 per person. Help send out students to the musical competition in Halifax. - Blackstock Lions We had loads of members with the maroon suit jackets out last Wednesday as we played host to a cabinet meeting for A16 east district executive. The month of March and April appear to be a busy time with nominations of officers in our club and the district and election of same. Also two conventions. Museum Board Meeting | attended this meeting last Tuesday night and found it a great experience in phycology. We went through what was needed to improve the museum. We extend our sincere condolences to Denis and Debbie Robitraille on the death of Debbie's father William Orr. Joke of the Week Only in Canada do we use the word politics to describe the process so well. Poli in Latin meaning many Tics meaning bloodsucking creatures. The One Liner Only in Canada do you say: Driving is better in winter because the potholes are filled with snow. * Comin | 188 Mary Street, Port Perry 985-1130 « 1-800-253-0181 Check us out on the Internet: www.portperrystar.com THERAPY & COUNSELLING Dr. Bill Eull Ph.
