This popular awards pro- gram, which is a parallel to the new awards for private and independent school teachers, recognizes excel- lence in education through innovative and creative teaching methods. The awards are presented in part- nership with the Ontario Teacher's Federation. The recipients of the 2000 TVOntario Teacher's Awards will be announced during a gala ceremony at Toronto's Enoch Turner Schoolhouse on the evening of Thursday, June 8. The three winners of this year's awards will each receive a $1,000 cash award, an additional $1,000 for edu- cational materials for their schools, and an official cer- tificate of excellence. "As we begin the new mil- lennium, it is more important than ever to encourage excit- ing learning experiences, and creative uses for tech- nology in the classroom," said Isabel Bassett, Chair and CEO of the Ontario Educational Communications Authority (TVOntario).
