Better health is wished for Mrs. B. VanRyswyk who is recovering from the effects of a fall and Mrs. Kathleen Watts who is also hospitalized. Fair members are reminded of the meeting this week and are asked to please note the change of day from Thursday evening to Wednesday evening, March 8. A social time will be held at 7:30 p.m. with the meeting itself beginning at 8 p.m. Gerald and Joyce Kelly enjoyed a visit Sunday afternoon and evening with their former neighbours Allen and Brigid Frank of Columbus area. The large crowds at the Tuesday evening card par- ties continue with 15 tables this past week with the fol- lowing winners: Don Geer, Audrey Mahaffy, Charlie Stapleton, Verna Slute, Doreen Kelly and Chester Madsen. Most lone hands went to Charlie Stapleton. Lucky draws were won by Lyle McMahon, Helen Dorrell, Elaine Bailey, Verna Slute, Alden Hubbard and Elsie Pogue. We will hopefully have more details on their return home. Good luck. Many from this commu- nity enjoyed attending the Borelians play in Port Perry over the past two weeks. Congratulations on a great Festival, two young St. John's parishioners gave distinguished perfor- mances, Neva Lyn-Kew and Joshua Coles, children of Tom and Debra Coles, placed first in their classes. Neva was first in the Beginner, under 10 years of age piano competition and Joshua topped the Beginner, under 12 years of age piano class. Congratulations to these young musicians. Neva and Joshua are studying music with Linda Kyte of Blackstock. On Friday, March 3 at Nestleton-Cadmus Presbyterian Church, rep- resentatives of all the churches in Cartwright joined together for the annual World Day of Prayer. This is an annual event with World-wide participa- tion. The Cartwright Churches take turns at hosting the event in this area. Each church leads a section of the service which directs attention to prob- lems faced by people in a specific Third World coun- try. This year the emphasis was on Indonesia. Rev. William Fairley, minister of the host church delivered the homily. We'd like to remind you that at St. John's the pre- Lenten feast starts at 5 p.m. and goes on until everyone who tums up has been well fed. The following day, Wednesday is, of course, Ash Wednesday, the first day of Lent.
