Hockey tournaments include Tyke (today), Peewee (Wednesday), Novice (Thursday), and Bantam (Friday). Getting set for a little skating action last Sunday was little Jordan Elliot- Dekoning, 6, and Judy Coish. Port Perry Minor Hockey will take sign-ups in the spring, not summer, this year Now accepting registrations... By Linda Ashton Port Perry Minor Hockey Port Perry Minor Hockey is holding its registration for the 2000/2001 sea- son in the spring instead of the sum- mer this year. Registration will take place Saturday, March 25 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the arena. There will be no mail-in registration this year. A deposit of $50 per player will be required at registration with the remaining amount due by post-dated cheques for Aug. 15 and Nov. I. All three cheques must be received at time of registration or you will not be considered registered. If you do not register at this time you will not be able to take part in power skating the first week of September. New players registering with Port Perry will need a photocopy of the player's birth certificate and health card brought to the arena when you register. Fees for the upcoming season are $250 per player born 1993 to 1995; $300 for players born 1987 to 1992; and for players born 1980 to 1986 the fee will be $325. Any players that play rep will be charged an extra $100 when the teams are finalized. These prices are reflective of ice usage and the cost for officials in the rep and older age groups. We will also be accepting coaching applications earlier this year as well. Anyone wishing to coach can pick up forms at the arena from the bulletin board and return them to Port Perry Minor Hockey by April 2. Police checks will have to be done before the season starts in order to coach or manage a team. Rep tryouts for the 2000/2001 play- ing season may start the week of Aug. 28, depending on ice availabili- ty. There will be a nominal fee for these tryouts and you must be regis- tered before you go on the ice. There will be no registration during tryouts and power skating. Schedules for these sessions will be posted at the arena and in the papers in August. Port Perry Minor Hockey has a number of female players in the younger age groups and we're won- dering if there is enough interest to form a couple of female teams ages seven to | Ito play in a new house league. If you have female players that are interested in playing please come to registration on Saturday, March 25. There is absolutely no body checking in these age groups. If you do not register in the spring there will be another date set for the middle of September but remember that you will not get any power skating and you may miss some rep tryouts. We also can't guarantee that there will be a spot in some of the age groups for house league teams as some age categories will be large in numbers next year with a 7-1 victory over Van Camp Contracting in the second game of the play- offs. Haugens is rumored to be bidding for first place in playoff standings. Sniper Brett Foote slapped the puck into the net three times for a hat trick. John Page was ecstatic when he scored his first goal of the season assisted the game with one goal and two assists. Logan Toguri was not far behind with one of each and Dominic Polito chalked up a goal for his stats. Not to be forgotten was awesome goaltending by Curtis Vanderwoerd. The third period ended an exciting game with "Till we meet again."
