SERVICE & BUSINESS DIRECTORY TE RR a aa RENOVATIONS That old-time dancing lives on By Heather McCrae Port Perry Star Dosido, allemande left and birdie in the cage are probably not very familiar terms to many young people today. Then there are the members of the Durham West 4-H Dance Club. Since the first week of February, 16 club members from Oshawa, Mount Zion, Port Perry and Sunderland, aged 10 to 18, have been learning how to line dance and square dance... and loving it. The idea of forming a dance club was Gord Taylor's." A resident of Mount Zion, Mr. Taylor recalls all the fun he had square dancing when he was in Junior Farmers. "I didn't want them to lose the traditional dances. They are seldom seen anymore but if these young people go to a social function and there is square dancing, it's nice that they can take part." The kids have had some terrific instructors. During the two nights of line dancing, Betty Cassady of the Get In Line Country Dancers in Brooklin and seven other members demonstrated their moves on the line. And for the three nights of square dancing, Frank Barkey of Blackstock and Anne Sonley of Ashbum did the calling. Years ago Mr. Barkey called nearly every weekend, and still does on otca- sion. "I love square dancing," Barkey. said Mr. "Some of the grandparents of these kids square danced: in this Mt.
