So CF EEE "Scugog's Community Newspaper of Choice" PORT PERRY STAR - Tuesday, March 28, 2000 - 19 SHL teams involved in playoffs From page 18 with big saves throughout the game. However, it was the contractors who deliv- ered on this day. Goreski's Roofing 4 Taylor Fuels 3 In this game it was Goreski's Roofing edging out Taylor Fuels by a final score of 4-3. Two goals from the likes of Ryan Ridgway, as well as a pair supplied by Warren Geer, including the winner late in the third period helped the Roofers to prevail. Taylor Fuels did bring some offense to the table in this one as Mike McGuiness, Brian Till and Brian Samis made the game close but the Roofers were huge down the stretch and this resulted in two points. Monsma Electric 3 Harrison Fuels | Getting out to a quick lead is key if SHL glory is what your team is striving for. Monsma Electric was able to do this against Harrison Fuels and the outcome was a 3-1 win. The electricians found the back of the cage three times and doing the damage was the likes of John Mackey, Trevor Till and Brad Meekins. Don Card shut the door in the Monsma nets making numerous brilliant saves. Harrison Fuels did snipe one however as Bob Tarbotton could not be contained, scoring a nice goal with a low, hard wrist shot to the blocker side. It would not be enough as the early lead was a factor in the Monsma Electric win. B. Callery & Associates 2 Van & Truck World | The second very defensively played game of the day went to B. Callery & Associates as they came out on the better end of a 2-1 decision against Van & Truck World. The Associates attacked early and that is key in the SHL playoffs. Colin Asselstine opened the scoring for the Associates with a goal of the unassisted variety and his efforts were followed by a nice goal cour- tesy of Brian Williamson who took sweet passes from Rick Hope and Paul Stanley before finding the net. Van & Truck World did make this game close in the third frame when Mike Passmore came through offensively after taking feeds from Mike Adam and Jay Adam in front of the net but the Associates were able to hang on for the victory. In fact, we have fully integrated many excep- tional students including children with Downs Syndrome, ADHD, learning disabilities, behaviour problems and PDD suc- cessfully. Most times a casual vis- itor to the classroom would not be able to pick out any special needs children, yet each year we have several. Again, the unique child- centered and individual nature of the program accounts for this.
