Gail Scala, spokesper- son . for the Special Investigations Unit (SIU), said that the nearly com- pleted report will be held up while lead investigator Rob Hughes and his staff review court transcripts in which Warren Mclvor, 45, of Cobourg admitted to using cocaine on the night that he led police on a high-speed chase from Scugog Island to the inter- section of Hwy 12 and 48. A statement read in court last week said that once police had disabled and stopped Mr. Mclvor's car, the suspect continued to ignore warnings to stop, trying to move his vehicle. He also failed to show his hands when ordered by police, according to the statement, agreed to by the defence and the pros- ecution. The confrontation cul- minated in a veteran Durham Regional Police officer firing his gun, and hitting Mr. Mclvor three times. Ms. Scala said that the statement of facts - read into the court record as Mr. Mclvor plead guilty to three offenses in relation to the chase - will be reviewed against informa- tion already collected. "They (the investiga- tors) will be reviewing the information that came forth in court regarding the agreed upon state- ment of facts," Ms. Scala said Monday. The investigation has been ongoing for five months; Ms. Scala said she could not give a time frame for its completion. Ms. Scala said that one of the reasons for the delay on the SIU report to date has been a lengthy wait for OPP accident reconstruction reports, which only arrived in SIU hands two weeks ago. In pleading guilty to dangerous driving, failing to comply with bail and failing to stop for police, Mr. Mclvor agreed with the crown"s version of events, and was sentenced to five more months in custody on top of the five months he has spent pretrial. i Your chance to win d SUNDERLAND CO-OF, Inc. ° HWY. 7 A 12, P.O.
