Thanks to the Cub Pack for cleaning up our roadways The big news this week is the Caesarea Christian Fellowship Easter Service this Wednesday, April 19 at 7:30 p.m. at the Community Hall. | attended the special meeting before Christmas and I found it very gratifying both spiritually, friendship wise and the refreshments were great. So try and put a little Christianity into our village. Everyone is wel- come to attend. The group also meets every Wednesday at this time and place. Cartwright Number One Cub Pack This week Roger Labonte contacted me about a general cleanup on Hwy. 57 from the firehall to Proutt Road, then back on the west side to the tele- phone distribution centre. All these little hands got busy at 9 a.m. and broke off just shy of noon. When | drove by at 2 p.m. I couldn't see one piece of paper or debris on the road allowance. But when | returned at 6 p.m. there were two bags against the fence in different locations. When | went out on Sunday Happy Birthday If you see this guy grve him a "be there" pally April 19, Happy Birthday pally Love Dad & A}. there were more. The Scugog law states throwing things from a car window or just walk- ing and throwing it on the ground is littering subject to a $95 fine. Having things blow off pickups or trailers is unsafe loading and is an automatic $125 fine. I know | have the majority of citizens behind this policy of "Keep Caesarea Clean." Thanks boys for a job well done. Holiday Hours The Port Perry Star will be closed Friday April 21 for Good Friday. Deadlines for the 21st paper will be Tuesday at 12 noon April 18. Regular office hours resume April 22nd Have A Happy & Safe Easter Weekend Caesarea Hall Board Caesarea | "2 ih understand- by ing they met for a short meeting Sunday morning and then cleaned up outside around the hall and the back of the fire station. Some of them were busy washing the win- dows, walls and fixtures inside. When we returned home after a pre-Easter family get together the grounds looked perfect. | have no reports of the meeting at this time. Blackstock Lions Club This Wednesday dinner meeting is ladies night. This is when we Lions are. accompanied by our wives or sweethearts. The speak- er of the evening is Sandra Holdsworth on the topic of "Organ Donations." The Easter Bunny sales are going well at Reid's this year with our target of 50 cases to sell. In years past most of these sales were done by about three men who took them to work, but due to retirement or factory policy we have lost that avenue of sales. The next big item is our district convention. Lake Scugog Historical Society At the meeting last Thursday night a report was made on the progress of the Nonquon Canoe Races which is in very good shape. One point we would like to emphasize is for canoeists to go out and get your entry fee sponsored by your friends, neighbours and relatives. Last year we had two lads who brought in almost $200 each. These entry forms will be with the program coming out in May. Remember the profits from our efforts goes to support our pioneer museum on the Island. Good luck fel- lows. Bill Hurst and Pete Kennedy have volunteered to serve on this committee. The election of the new executive for the year 2000 took place with Mavis Brodie as president, Bruce Atkins as vice-president, Vilma Giannini as treasurer, secretary Susan Dutton. A new pioneer cemetery board was formed to inspect these burial grounds. The Historical Society received a letter from Ron Brown who is preparing another book on notable large homes or castles in small hamlets of Ontario. Joke of the Week One pay day an employ- ee received an unusually large cheque. She decided not to say anything about it. The following week her cheque was much less than normal and she com- plained to the boss. The boss inquired, "How come when you get over paid you don't complain and now you do?" The employee said, "I can overlook one mistake but not two." 1 (mm, Classic =---- Aluminum + Windows + Doors - Siding « Awnings (retractable) - Soffits & Eavestrough + Sunrooms + Exterior Cladding + Gingerbread THOMAS WALSH - Authorized Dealer 60 Vanedward Dr., Suite #7, Port Perry Ph: (905) 985-0075 - Fx: (905) 985-4816 \_ Toll Free 1-800-421-0037 Wy, Do It Yourself | www.atouchoffur.com 158 Queen Street, Port (905) 985-0574 LISHMAIN'S A gallery of functional art ~ MUA LISHMAN'S Knit Furs SERBN ov WILLIAM LISHMAN'S Sculptures rr AE vv ATOUCH OF FUR Perry SHOP LOCAL Nis (0) me vefele When 40 dhop al a budinedd in Scugog, Supporl yous local merchants!
