The Lake Scugog Spring Studio Tour 2000 will kick off this weekend, May 6 and 7, and invites the public to check out works and shops of 21 local artists. While studio tours have long taken place in neighbouring areas, such as Uxbridge and Victoria County, artists here have never come together to organize such an event, says Carey Nicholson, a Port Perry fibre artist who's helped put together the inaugural tour. Those participating in the tour will be invited to attend a total of 16 sites, at which they can view the works of 21 artists and artisans, and watch them at work. There's a broad range of media represented, from fibre art to water colours, stained glass, sculpture and pho- tography. It's hoped that the tour intro- duces residents of Scugog to the talented people who are living qui- etly among them. The Lake Scugog Spring Studio Tour will be launched with a recep- tion and preview exhibition of par- ticipating artists' works on Friday, May 5, from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. at Charlotte Hale's Veni Vidi Studio and Gallery, at 168 Queen St. in Port Perry.
