For more details about the funeral which will be held on Thursday, call Ernie's sister Muriel Wotten. Nancy and Bob Bryans attended the wedding of his great nephew T.J. McCauley to Christina Hunter in Milton. Bill and Orlee Bryans of Fenelon Falls also were guests. A large crowd attended the community bridal shower in honour of Michelle Morton on Sunday afternoon. After the bride- to-be opened her many beautiful gifts, Michelle thanked everyone for their best wishes and the gifts. Of course, in true Blackstock fashion, many delicious desserts were served and a social time was enjoyed. Recently Emma and Nathan Alpe both celebrat- ed their birthdays. In addi- tion to family celebrations for each, Emma enjoyed an evening of bowling and sev- eral friends stayed overnight. Fairley guest speaker. On Monday, May 29 the Blackstock District Guides held the Annual Banquet and Awards evening. District Commissioner Darlene Matthew wel- comed everyone and the O Canada was sung. The Guide Movement was toasted by Heather McLaughlin and replied to by Abby McLaughlin. Katelyn Bishop proposed the toast to the mothers and was replied to by her mother Joey Bishop. Rev. David Shearman said Grace after which dinner was enjoyed. Shirley Dingman intro- duced the guests and Guiders. Advancement was held for the following Sparks: Sarah Ashmore, Hannah Cleary, Amanda Kaminski, Alexandra Lynde, Victoria McFadden, Virginia McGriskin, Jessica Moore and Lindsay Scott. For the Brownies advancing: Amber Archibald, Jessie Bongard, Natasha Edgerton, Avery Frey, Megan Ferguson, Breianne Gordon-Varty, Sarah Matthew, Jessica Malone, Amberlee McGrisking, Claire Pereault and Kelley Unwin. For the Guides advanc- ing: Natalie Beechey, Katelyn Bishop, Sarah Churchill, Erin Cleary, Janna Jeffrey, Erin Lang and Tiffany McFadden. Pathfinders advancing: Abby McLaughlin. Awards were presented as follows: Adult Training- Stage 2: Kate Archibald and Deborah Cooper; Religion in Life-Stage 1: Jordin Edwards, Avery Frey, Amy Gibson, Karla Gibson, Claire Perreault and Ocean Wolters; Stage 2: Amber Archibald, Jessie Bongard, - Natasha Edgerton, Bailey Gould, Sarah Matthew; Stage |: Erin Lang. The prestigious Canada Cord was presented to Abby McLaughlin after which the Chief Commissioner Pin was pre- sented to Sara Brown, Julie Obstfeld and Miranda Wylie. Congratulations to the recipients of these many awards. The evening concluded with Taps and dismissal. The Ist Cartwright Scouts held their Annual Banquet last Wednesday with a large crowd attend- ing. All enjoyed a delicious dinner served by the United Church Women. Swimming up from Beavers to Cubs were: Curtis Gibbons, Logan Palacious, Daniel Shields, Daniel Brett, John Farrett, David Thornton, David VanCamp, Tyler Matthew, Kyle Morden and Travis Fortnum. Leaping up from Cubs to Scouts were: Jesse Thornton, Matthew Down, Frank Thompson, Kyle VanGrootel, Ben Brett and Wyatt Walker. Receiving Scout Shop gift certificates in recogni- tion of their excellent fundraising for Scoutrees were Paddy Gregory, Ben Gregory, David VanCamp, Jake Collins, Tyler Ashmore and Wyatt Walker. Mary Frances Thompson presented Religion in Life- Stage | certificates to Tyler Matthew, Travis Fortnum, Joshua Labonte, Colter Czruk, Alex Fortnum and Andrew Black. Sarah Matthew was pre- sented with her Stage 2 cer- tificate by Rev. David Shearman. In other Scouting news, the Cubs attended a District weekend camp on June 2-4 in Port Perry and had a great time. The Scouts attending CJOIl would like to thank the communities of Blackstock, Caesarea and Nestleton for their gener- ous support of the bottle drive.
