"Scugog"s Community Newspaper of Choice" _------ PORT PERRY STAR - Tuesday, June 27, 2000 - 17 Central Seven director 8 hails a year of growth By Chris Hall Port Perry Star Central Seven Association For Community Living is on solid ground, with operations running smoothly and finances in order. That's the report the agency's membership received when Central Seven held its annual gen- eral meeting at the Emmanuel Pentecostal Church in Port Perry last Monday evening (June 19). In her report to mem- bers, president Pam Domingos noted that the agency continues to grow, particularly in the pro- grams and living environ- ments it offers, as well as the clients it serves. "North Durham has become quite a dynamic, rapidly growing collection of communities, and there is a steadily increasing demand on our organiza- tion to provide support to people who have devel- opmental disabilities," she said in her address. "Moreover, in recent years we have been rec- ognized by the Ministry of Community - and "¥Social™" Services for our expertise in supporting people who have particularly chal- lenging needs. "This recognition, and our willingness to work with the ministry on some recent projects, has creat- ed a growth spurt beyond what could have (been) predicted on the basis of local demographic needs."
