"Scugog's Community Newspaper of Choice" PORT PERRY STAR - Tuesday, July 25, 2000-1 'Texas Showdown' is theme of annual casino golf tourney The Great Blue Heron Charity Casino will holding its own "Texas Showdown" in September when the fourth annual golf classic is held to raise funds for the Port Perry hospital. There are still spots available for the 2000 tour- nament, which will be held Sept. 13 at the Royal Ashburn Golf and Country Club. More than $16,000 was raised at last year's event, and organizers are aiming for the $20,000 in 2000. The money will be used to purchase a fetal heart mon- itor for the New Life Centre. The fun will begin at 12:30 p.m. with a shotgun start. Following the game, everyone is invited to a fabulous Texas barbeque. All participants will also receive prizes. The cost of the tourna- ment is $180 per golfer, and participants will be accepted on a first-come basis. Participants are invited to contact Carolyn Pokulok at 985-4888, ext. 213 to pre- register.
