Justin Petty and Curtis Vanderwoed were Curanjo's offensive stars. Kyle Kersten played a strong defensive tournament. The final match was between Redline Automotive and 5 x 5 Computing Solutions. 5 x 5 battled hard and fell short by just one goal, as Redline won the championship by a 4 -- 3 margin. And also of course, a big thanks to our sponsors for their ongoing support." said Mike Lorish, Scugog Soccer Association President. "This season has been very success- ful for our club. We had a rather aggres- sive programme this year and were able to accomplish most of our goals, for which many of our members have expressed appreciation. | am proud of, and very fortunate to have, our very dedicated and dynamic team of volun- teers working behind me. Many new volunteers stepped forward at the beginning of the season, and that has made all the difference, from improving communications, to hosting new events such as the Scugog Soccer Celebration 2000 Awards & Banquet on Sept. 24. We hope to see all our players, parents, coaches, referees, and sponsors there!" While fishing for the day was generally considered tough, the winners were able to amass a five fish limit weighing 17.64 Ibs. When asked what the secret to catching their winning weight was the anglers conceded that when the fish are not in an aggressive mood, such as on this particular day, they will not chase a bait very far and you must move your bait very slowly. Both anglers have been fishing the Bassmania Tournament Series this season but usually they compete against each other. While winning some prize money for fishing is fun both anglers are more than aware how expensive competitive angling can be. When asked about sponsorship both fisher- men responded that they are supported both on a local level and at a corpo- rate level. They are fortu- nate enough to have a Smokercraft boat supplied for them from Port Perry Marina and are very impressed both with the boat and the level of ser- vice they receive there.
