Tom Sherwin Lake Scugog Shores Historical Museum The Crusin' Classic's Car Show held this past Sunday was a great success with a great assortment of the classic mod- els, plus a few of the antiques Albert Putsey there. A great number of peo- ple attended the showing. The Lake Scugog Historical Association met with Scugog Township Council this past Monday morning dealing with forming a "Local Architectural Conservancy Advisory Committee." This committee including a councillor will protect building and structures of architectural merit and to protect properties and lands of historical signifi- cance in order to protect our community heritage. The society will hold a board meeting this Thursday, Sept. 14 at 7:30 p.m. at the museum grounds. Blackstock Lions Last Wednesday's dinner meeting was an exciting evening with us hearing from each Lion member who headed up a department on his plan for his coming turn in office. There will be a board meet- ing this Wednesday, Sept. 13 at 7:30 p.m. at Lion Bruce's home. Sept. 20 will be ladies night with Governor Royuhbir Singh as guest speaker. There will be a summit zone meeting held on Saturday after- noon, Sept. 30 at Emmanuel Pentecostal Church, 1680 Reach Road (Durham Hwy. 8) in Port Perry. More details later. Pine Ridge Garden Club A great talk was given last Tuesday night by Kathleen Petrie on how to get ready to enter your items in a competi- tion. The numerous items on dis- play were excellent and very hard for the judges to make their decisions. Next garden club meeting will be Oct. 3 at Nestleton Hall. Soon it will be time to clear the garden and plant bulbs for spring. The Session of the Greenbank Church will meet on Sept. 12 at 7:30 p.m. The Senior Choir of the Greenbank Church begins practice on Tuesday, Sept. 12 at 8 p.m. Please note this change in the rehearsal evening. This will be in effect to Nov. 7, then the rehearsal evening will return to Thursday evening at 7:30 p.m. The Senior Choir is hoping to add new singers this fall. St. John's News By Colin Beal Father Hugh conducted the annual Memorial Service at St. John's Cemetery on Sunday afternoon. Following the ser- vice, the members of the large congrega- tion stayed for quite a while as they visit- ed with each other and exchanged remi- niscences of their departed loved ones.
