"Scugog's Community Newspaper of Choice" PORT PERRY STAR - Tuesday, September 26, 2000 - 21 There'll be lots of great food available after the 2 p.m. show Community Car Rally"s Sunday at Utica Hall A reminder to members that the Bethesda-Reach W.I. meet this Wednesday, Sept. 27 at Epsom Church, the historical walk begins at 6:30 p.m. and the meeting will start at 7:45 p.m. Church service this week will be the celebration of World Wide Communion and will be a joint ser- vice of the charge to be held at Goodwood at 10 a.m. Also this Sunday, will be the Community Car Rally which starts from Utica Hall at approximately 2 p.m. followed by a chili, corn on the cob supper, dessert and refresh- ments. Price for the supper is $7 for adults, $4 children and | presume the smaller ones will eat free. Registration for the Car Rally is free and there will be prizes. Come on out, meet your neighbours and have fun. David Mayberry of Ingersol, our co-operant of the Ontario Canadian Foodgrain Bank and a gentleman from Etheopia, visited Don Asling and Orvan Brethour recently. Leanne Baker of Texas has been visiting with family and friends. Part of her visit was to share in sister Heather's wedding. A hearty Epsom welcome to Jason Horton and Leanne Riezebos who were married in Uxbridge on Saturday and will be making their home in the former Andrews home. The Epsom School Parent and "Curriculum" Garbage evening was well attended. The cool wind was a deterrent but much better than rain. Doug and Judy MacSween attend- ed the wedding on Saturday of Chris Hardy and Deanna Carl (daughter of Maurice and Vivian Carl) which was held in Columbus United Church, and the reception that followed at Trillium Trails. The Houghland family were also in attendance to witness the wedding of their cousin Deanna 'who is a Jean's niece. A note to those who sponsored my mother and daughter walk on Sunday for the Heart and Stroke Foundation, | made the six km. which went along the Scugog River, park and up town and back. But, a minute later, MoJacks' captain Shane Norton showed why he is wearing the C this season as he combined with Adam Jones for a nifty short-handed marker to cut the visitors' lead to 5-4. And with under a JelUA PIZZA, SUBS minute left in regulation, Jason Whitworth hooked up with Norton to tie the game and send things to the sudden-death OT period. However, the MoJacks lost the services of sniper McQuade in the third peri- od when he was called for "checking from behind" and assessed a five- minute major and game misconduct by referee Shawn Scorady. Derek Hill of the Ice was called for the same infraction mid- way through the final peri- od. The green and white turned in a solid perfor- mance in the opening game of the new Central Ontario Jr. C season, com- ing off a successful six- game exhibition schedule and an intense training camp that got underway in the final week of August. Worthy Matron is Joyce Taylor and Worthy Patron, Richard Windsor. " B.J. Short gave her report of Grand Chapter Sessions in August in Toronto. Almost $100,000 was given this past year to the Alzheimer Society and 59 students received $875 each to help with studies in the ministry. Blue Ray was a party of this charitable work as well as donating to Port Perry Health Centre and other local organizations. Members are looking forward to another banner year.
