18 - PORT PERRY STAR - Wednesday, October 11, 2000 "Scugog's Community Newspaper of Choice" Local man excited about launch of "Fresh" magazine Continued from page 4 As for the name of the maga- zine, it was Mr. Hughes who came up with the fresh new moniker. "It sounded neat, a fresh new idea," said Mr. McTaggart. "We're really motivated about the launching of this new look. It's a magazine for real people. Our front page will always feature unique people, but folks you can run into in the city and not be afraid to say hello to." With the assistance of three silent partners who are all promi- nent business people, and their wealth of knowledge and back- ground in the industry, all three are confident FRESH Magazine will be a success. Another person from Port Perry who has recently come on board as a feature stylist is Mandy Bright of Essence of Beauty on Water Street. "Mandy and | have known each other since high school, and when | asked if she would like to help in this area she was all for it," said Mr. McTaggart. In the first issue, which is tar- geted for the newsstands late next month, there is a feature story about Canadian women in film and Ms Bright has been doing makeovers and hair for the last three Sundays in Toronto, in preparation for the story. "Mandy's a great hairstylist. She's a great asset to our team." The cost of each 100-page issue will be $3.99 plus taxes. And for the first issue 70,000 copies are scheduled to be print- ed. Currently the plan is to pub- lish six times a year. "We're really excited about FRESH Magazine. It will definite- ly be a hit with the new, fresh gen- eration."
