Port Perry Printing got the game rolling when they tallied their first goal ten minutes into the game. Lane Gibson dug the puck out of a scram- ble and sent Phillip Russell on a breakaway with a great pass. Phillip made no mistake as he beat Tyler Midgehall on a low shot to the corner. Connor Paterson made it 2-0 when Randy Stoiner stopped a clearing attempt and set up Connor in the slot who deked the defense and found the back of the net. ReMax got one back a minute later when Jacob Rynders sent Peter Russell in all alone. The Printing squad goalie, Jeff Bertrand, got a piece of it but it trickled between his legs and across the line. Dakota Watson restored the two goal margin shortly thereafter when he picked up a loose puck on the boards and swooped in and fired a wrist shot past the ReMax goalie. Phillip Russell picked up an assist on the play. Connor Ristow completed the scoring with 20 seconds left in the game when Spencer Ayres set him up for a breakaway. Connor picked the top corner on a beautiful shot. The score would have been much higher if not for the great play of the two goalies, Tyler Midgehall for ReMax and Jeff Bertrand for Port Perry Printing. They both made some stel- lar saves and kept the final score to Port Perry Printing 4, ReMax |. The following day Port Perry Printing and Haugen's faced off in a Novice house league match. For the second game in a row the tight defensive play of the Printing squad has made it tough for their opponents to score. Lane Gibson got it going when Wade Bond set him up with a nice pass at centre ice. Lane rushed up the boards and fired it from the face off circle past the glove of Haugen's goalie, Eric Randal. Nelson Eschscholtz made it 2-0 less than a minute later when he grabbed the puck out of a goal mouth scramble and poked it into the net. Connor Paterson put the game out of reach when Lane Gibson stole the puck at the blue line and slid it across to Darrell Pelletier who passed it to Connor who then turned and fired it past the goalie. Conner Ristow com- pleted the scoring when he scored unassisted on a breakaway with eight minutes left in the game. For the last few minutes the action was end to end as both Eric Randal and Jeff Bertrand made stop after stop. This was an exciting game to watch as both teams gave it their all. The final score was Port Perry Printing 4, Haugen's 0.
