"Scugog's Community Newspaper of Choice" PORT PERRY STAR - Tuesday, October 31, 2000 - 21 o Wonder who that couple at the Halloween dance were? From all accounts the cos- tumes at the Halloween Dance were hilarious. I wonder who the nun and her escort, the priest, were? The committee worked hard to make the dance a great suc- cess. The board deserves a great word of thanks for a job well done. Caesar's Cemetery At our work parties on Saturdays and Sundays we are having visitors dropping in. Three last weekend and two this week. The place is getting popular. We have been very busy getting rid of the piles of brush that oth- ers have left behind. Also we are cleaning a great number of the saplings out. Still there are three or four dead trees to cut up. Grant Night We are all thankful to the township and the provincial gov- ernment employees for giving their time for this great night of discussion. Under the Wintario grant sys- tem we were able to supply labour and they would supply many for the construction of new items. That's how we were able to make Putsey Park the way it is today. NER Caesa by rea \ Albert Putsey Under their current grants we can improve existing community halls, playground equipment, parks, washrooms, etc., but can't construct anything new under this grant system. We here in Caesarea need a new hall with a basement with just plain block painted walls where kids can have a good time. We are in need of a proper regis- tered site baseball diamond and soccer fields. We are the largest housing community in Cartwright. Pine Ridge Garden Club Don't forget Tuesday, Nov. 7 is garden club night. This is to be a workshop, making a wreath from fresh materials. Arrangements suitable for Remembrance Day. Blackstock Lions Lions, don't forget this Wednesday is ladies night. Guest speaker will be Karen Allan the new principal of Cartwright High. Maybe we can get a better understanding of what is wrong between the teachers union and the govern- ment. The treasurer may have the financial results of the Legends of Rock and Roll night which appeared to be a success.
