"Scugog's Community Newspaper of Choice" PORT PERRY STAR - Tuesday, November 28, 2000 - 21 It was held at the Blackstock United Church Durham East 4-H Milk Club achievement program held Nov. 8 By Nicole Beechey Press Reporter On Thursday, Nov. 8 the Durham East 4-H Milk Makes It Better Club held their achievement program from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Blackstock United Church. Once all of our special guests, parents, leaders and members had arrived our president and MC for the evening Janice Kadowaki, opened the evening with the 4-H pledge. Then a demonstra- tion was given by Nicole Beechey, Janice Kadowaki and Jordyn Clark on how to make Lemon Raspberry Mini Cheesecakes. After the demonstration they brought out Lemon Raspberry Mini Cheesecakes previously cooked and drizzled rasp- berry sauce over top of them. Everyone enjoyed them. Then our attention was directed to the exhibit board on the back table made by Lindsay and Wesley Unwin. There were also recipe booklets on the back table made with recipes the members had submitted that include milk or other dairy prod- ucts and arranged by Nicole and Natalie Beechey. Then the Blackstock Women's Institute presented mugs to Natalie Beechey and Janice Kadowaki who had both completed 12 pro- jects. The Women's Institute also presents awards to members com- pleting six projects. Then our leader Jean Goble pre- sented a pin to Matthew Down on behalf of the Blackstock ONO, for his completion of his first 4-H club. Matthew Down and Eric Wyllie received their certificates which rounded out the presentations for the evening. The last thing we did that night was eat the snacks the members of the club had brought in which included two kinds of chocolate pudding, crack- ers and cheese, veggies and dip and various other items. Durham Regional Police were called to a Union St. . construction site last week after thieves made off with a cement mixer. Police report that Cement mixer taken from job site sometime between 5 p.m. on Nov. 23 and 7 a.m. on Nov. 24 thieves stole a Honda diesel cement mixer valued at $2,700.
