PORT PERRY STAR - Tuesday, December §, 2000 - 21 It certainly looked like winter on the Nonquon this past Sunday. Lots of kids and parents were out on the ice - skating and playing hockey, etc. It was a beautiful day, not much wind with lots of sunshine. | know the kids had a great time. Time to get our houses deco- rated for Christmas. Especially as there is going to be a Christmas House decorating contest in the Seagrave area. Please register your house at Wanamaker's Store by Dec. 18. The judging will be done on Dec. 20. The top three houses will receive a prize. Don't forget the Seagrave Park Dance this coming Saturday at Kids skating, playing hockey on the river... Is winter finally here? the Scugog Community Centre. This year is the 25th anniversary of the Seagrave Park Dance. Tickets are available from Marilyn Blair at 985-0408. Come on out and enjoy a great evening with lots of door prizes and enjoy the company of your friends in the community. The Port Perry Predators girls hockey team travelled to Peterborough this past weekend for a tournament. They didn't bring home trophies but they played very well, working hard but most important had a great time with each other. Local girls on the team are Nicole McGarry, Courtney Ristow, Jamie Steranka Seagrave Ann Sandiford and Ashleigh Sandiford. Support our local Seagrave Scouting organizations by pur- chasing a poinsettia plant for your home, gift, etc. Call Gail at 985-1956 or Chris at 985-8239. Congratulations to Mark and Nancy Sturman on the birth of their daughter, Alicia Claire who was born on Sunday, Nov. 26 at Bowmanville. The proud and happy grandparents are Ken and Eleanor Sturman. Gertrude, Neil and Donna Wanamaker attended the church service at Oakwood on Sunday when Paul and Marilyn Wanamaker presented their son, Scott Bertram and daughter Stacey Mariah for baptism. The men's group will meet this Saturday, Dec. 9 a 8:30 a.m. at the church. All men are welcome. Next Sunday, Dec. 10 is White Gift Sunday at the Seagrave Church when we are asked to bring an unwrapped food item to be given to Operation Scugog. Seagrave Church News Darlene and Amanda Hill lit the first advent candle of hope at the church service on Sunday and the congregation sang the first verse of "Hope is a Star." Rev. Sea you there. Last Thursday night we said goodbye to Susan Neale although she promised me to come back and visit us on some of our special events that take place here in Scugog.
