The choir compet- ed last week at the Pickering Town Centre against 41 choirs from four schools boards and placed in the top 10. The local stu- dents in the choir are: Ashleigh Sandiford, Courtney Ristow, Logan Snider, Michelle Zidner, Citelle Heywood, Shelley Davies and Kathleen Baird. The top 10 choirs were invited back to the Pickering Town Centre this past Sunday where they all performed again and were recorded on a CD which will be for sale, hopefully, before Christmas. Judges were there to choose the top three choirs which will be announced shortly. CTV news was there recording and the Port Perry choir made the 6 p.m. news broadcast. (Wow, | bet there were lots of VCR's running). With the help of teach- ers, Mme Gaudet and Mrs. Salamone, who spent many hours of their per- sonal time, both after school and on weekends helping the choir. "The A'Choired Habit" had an absolutely excellent per- formance. All members of the choir should be very proud of themselves. All agree, it was definitely a pleasure to watch them. Congratulations to Katherine Cooke who, along with her teammates on the Port Perry Belle ringette team, won silver at the Port Perry ringette tournament this past weekend. Gold went to an outstanding team from Ajax. Many thanks to Heather Davis, the team's coach. Happy birthday wishes go out to Amy Bruce and any others celebrating their special day. Congratulations to Stephanie Blair, Matt MacDonald, Ryan Robinson and teammates on the Mariposa Novice A team as they won the A championship in Omemee hockey tournament this past weekend. The Christmas Concert and pot luck supper will be next Sunday (Dec. 17) at 4 p.m. at the church. Supper will be at 5 p.m. All wel- come. The Christmas Eve Service will be at Greenbank United Church on Dec. 24 at 7:30 p.m. At the church service on Sunday Mrs. Bowen and four sons took part in the reading and lighting of the 2nd Advent Candle of Peace and the congrega- tion sang the first two vers- es of "Hope is a Star." Rev. Ross Carson chose for his sermon "No ordinary Father, Zechariah." The White Gifts were presented which will be given to Operation Scugog. The choir sang the anthem "The Dark Softly Falling." That's all for this week. Please call Ann Sandiford at 985-9440 for next week's column. Caesarea man faces drug charge A Caesarea man is fac- ing drug charges after being arrested last week.
