Sr ----" -------------------- ee -- rT ------ "Scugog's Community Newspaper of Choice" PORT PERRY STAR - Tuesday, February 27, 2001 - 17 Future of Putsey Parl; was topic of meeting The big news this week was the Putsey Park meeting held at Caesarea Hall on the evening of Wednesday, Feb. 21. 1 believe that those who attended got the true story of the past operations of the park. Although there was a lot of back and forth discussion, there was only one operating board there who considered taking over the responsibility of the administration, maintenance and pro- gramming of the park. The Caesarea Hall Board will make a final decision at the public meeting March 6 at 7:30 p.m. at Caesarea Hall. The community thanks Mayor Moffatt, Councillors Dietlein and McMillen, Sports Director, Jay Todd and Brenda Robertson for attending, all were from the township offices. It was also great to see two of the orig- inal hall board members on hand: Sharon Wright and Ann Harran. Ann and her late husband, Harry, maintained the park for many years before gasoline lawnmowers. But | think that Ann will agree that the biggest problem was the raking of the leaves in the spring and fall. There was a great turnout for this meet- ing. : Hall Euchre On Feb. 22 euchre winners were as follows: high ladies - Irene Train, high men - D. Melch, most lone hands - T. Pinder and M. Selby tied. "I never call my servants by their first name," she snapped. "What is your last name?" "Darling," he replied. "Drive on, James," she snorted. pis Aya is : n pendent le refit Aid depende d Training. hod oe AX LAR Learn skills ER SO iz n hour program XE A A ge on provides pad Bod Fe ptt lan EATS ox Vie td x = © Course 'date is Satu from aturday, Se Independent Grocer, | 95 Scugog St. i a h 3 ce Beda 8 > A Tat i ay mbulan Al AT " GA Tal Tad obi oR 0 ; 5 9. am. to 4:30 p.m, at Reid's CHRIS HALL/PORT PERRY STAR Maria Franssen celebrated her 95th anniversary last Saturday (Feb. 24) with a number of friends and family at Lakeside Lily's restaurant in Port Perry. Greenbank Church Music Committee It's hard to believe we are in the final week of February already, the month we have dedicated to be the "Grand Piano Fundraising" month. So far we have acquired about one third of our proposed goal of $7,200 for the month. We are very grateful for this support and thank all those who have given their donations and made their pledges to be collected later in July. But we are still very happy to accept any other donations and pledges that have been missed in this month of fundraising. We are still hopeful that this money can be raised so that alterations to the front of the church and the installation of the new grand piano can be complete and ready for September services. Anyone interested in making a pledge or donation, please contact Cheryl Quantrill at 985-4337 (evenings). ~
