10 - PORT PERRY STAR - Wednesday, May 23, 2001 "Scugog's Community Newspaper of Choice" Elderly woman found From page 1 The elderly woman was dazed but able to talk, according to the officers. She was rushed to hospi- tal in Port Perry, suffering from hypothermia. Relatives of the woman were at the hospital to thank the two detectives. John Jones, son-in-law of Mrs. Phillips, spoke briefly to The Star. "I could not have been more impressed with the police reac- tion," Mr. Jones said. "The initial efforts by the fire- fighters and the effort by the police and the searchers (OVERT) was amazing, and we can't be thankful enough to all of them." Glen Turpin of OVERT said that the volunteer unit was able to put Directory o Coming Events Every Thursday 'near downtown plaza 45 searchers and two dogs into the field within an hour of the call for help. The unit searched fields and back yards for blocks around the West Shore development. "She was within our search area, and | am glad that the offi- cers got to her when they did because minutes count in these searches. We have had three suc- cessful searches just in the past couple of weeks, and we all cele- brate this type of an outcome," Const. Turpin said. Detectives Andrews and Hammond had little to say about their actions. "She's been found, and she should be all right, and that's the main thing in this," said Det. Andrews. Fletcher Funeral Director Not all coffee is created equal Recently I saw the nutrition values for some of my favorite specialty coffees. My false assump- tion (actually it was more denial) was that since a cup of coffee with a little low fat milk had very little fat that the more interesting coffees would be similar. If you were under the same delusion you may want to stop here. The worst offend- ers are the coffees that are made with whipping cream. This could offer between 20 to 30 g of fat / cup. That is quite a bit when approximate- ly 60g of fat per day is recommended for most women. The next in line are the coffees made with whole milk that offer 10 to 20g / cup (this is based on a 16 oz. cup). The good news is that the coffees made with 1% milk are much more virtuous and offer 1 to 5 g of fat per cup. Plus the ones made with lots of low fat milk, like lattes, offer the nutritional advantages of giving you part of a milk serving as well.
